For the times that one ate too much salt or was swollen the remedy was pineapple. Growing up there was always a tea for any one of our possible ailments. Pineapple tea to be specific.
It was great to reduce swelling and fight inflammation. And I never knew why it worked, I just knew grandma would tell me to boil it and it worked. Now I know that pineapple contains bromelain, vitamin C and fiber which all help in fighting inflammation and swelling.
Little is known about the pineapple domestication, but it spread as a crop throughout South America. It eventually reached the Caribbean, Central America, and Mexico, where it was cultivated by the Mayas and the Aztecs.
Today I will share with you my grandma’s recipe of wonderful pineapple tea.
Enjoy your warm tea!
